Turks and Caicos Islands Overview

The Turks and Caicos Islands are a leading financial center in the Caribbean. As a tax haven the Turks and Caicos Islands provide the international business community with a well defined regulatory framework within which to operate a comprehensive range of financial activities including banking, insurance, trusts, investment funds, companies and partnerships. The government's Financial Services Commission regulates the industry, issues licenses and supervises all financial-related entities.

The Islands are ruled by a Governor appointed by the Queen with an Executive Council. Tourism and the offshore financial industry and fishing are the main generators of economic activity in the Islands. The legal system of the Islands is based on the English common law system similar to Canada and the United States with respect to ownership of  land, use of trusts etc.

The islands are situated 575 miles south west of Miami just south of the Bahamas. The flight from Miami is a short 90 minutes.
